This lecture will draw on modern evidence-based pathophysiology and clinical evidence to provide an overview of sacroiliac region pain issues in the ridden horse. 

Manual therapy has for many years used terminology such as “twisted pelvis” which is incorrect and reductive. 

Through an in-depth understanding of the anatomy of the SIJ, its surrounding ligamentous strictures, muscle groups and neuro vascular connections, we can approach SIJ pain in a modern, evidence-based and effective way. The practical part of the lecture will show what assessment protocols to use in pain evaluation of this region and what hands on techniques are best suited for the holistic treatment of this area and beyond.
